Afghanistan's first blog

I would like to say hello to all bloggers. My name is Waheed. I am a 20 year old male from Afghanistan and I have been working with the US Army in Kabul, Afghanistan as an interpreter for the last 2 years. Our base is located inside the ANA (Afghan National Army) Central Corps and the US officers train the ANA. I would like to thank my friend Paul Edwards who persuaded me to start my blog and send the real news from Afghanistan. The situation in Afghanistan is getting better day by day. There are still some fights in the southern provinces and also near the Pakistan border. The ANA and US Army fight against them, but the enemy is weak and they just carry out guerilla attacks and then escape.

The ANA is improving quickly - the 31st battalion graduated with 853 soldiers and officers last month from KMTC Kabul military training center and moved to ANA central corps. In the new formation of ANA there are six corps - the central corps and central brigade are located in Kabul while the other five corps are located in other provinces like Kandahar, Herat, Gardez, Kundoz, Paktia, and their battalions go on missions to other provinces During Taliban government the women were not allowed to work and girls were not allowed to go school but now people have their own freedom and women can go to work or study. After the election the new government established a new ministry by the name of Ministry of Women's Affairs and the women can easily solve their problems and they also have representatives in other provinces. During the Taliban we didn’t have internet system in Afghanistan but now there are about 25 net cafes in Kabul, and also some in Herat, Kandahar and Balkh provinces. People are really interested to use the internet but its too expensive for people to use it - only rich people can afford it. Under the Taliban Government we didn’t have any TV channels but now we have 4 TV channels in Kabul and for the first time in Ghazni, Balkh, Herat and Kandahar provinces.

Comments:
Hello Waheed. Great to see it finally working. Comments are not in haloscan like other blogs. I don't know why. Regardless, it is great to finally have Afghanistan on the map. I will look forward to your posts every day.

Hi Waheed,
Welcome to the blogosphere my friend. We have been waiting for so long to hear the voices of the brave people of Afghanistan.
Blogs are doing a priceless service in bringing the truth to the public and I'm so glad you decided to start this blog.
Good luck.

Hi Waheed - Thank you for your blog. I have been so curious as to how things are developing in Afghanistan, and will tune in to your blog daily. We get next to no news about your country and people from the MSM here in the US (unless it's bad, of course!). Good luck and best wishes to Afghanistan!

Great start! Let us know what is going on in Afghanistan. Your voice is being heard.

Hello Waheed. As an American it is so nice to see freedom of expression spreading. I believe we will one day know world peace but only after the dictatorships have been destroyed and the voices of the ordinary people around the world, like yours, can be heard.
The American Hawk

Waheed,
Thanks for writing in your blog. I have been amazed at the strong desire of Afghannis for democracy. The number of people who voted in your election was amazing--you can be very proud of that.
President Karzai seems like a kind and honest person who is working hard to improve your country.
I have read that new military bases are being constructed for the Afghan National Army. Are the soldiers pleased with them? Do people fear American influence (meddling) in Afghannistan?

Welcome, and Thank You. We need to know about the good things going on in Afghanistan. The only time the MSM makes mention of your land is when bad things happen.

I look forward to what you have to say.

Hello Waheed. It's great to see an Afghan blog on the web! I get most of my news about Afghanistan from the Afghan News Network and use Afghanistan Online for events and history. I'm glad I finally get to add a blog to my mix of information about Afghanistan and the Afghan people.

I hope you are able to continue and prosper as a blogger.

Hello Waheed,

Hello from Egypt. Congratulations on your new blog. I am so happy for you and will be looking forward to reading everything you write.

Good luck

Welcome to the blogosphere!

I look forward to reading your posts from the other side of the world.

Hello!
Thank you for starting this blog. We don't get a lot of first hand news from Afghanistan. It's great to finally have the perspective from a native!

Hello Waheed and welcome to the blogshpere. This is great! Hope to see more Afghani bloggers ;-)
Good Luck

Hello from the USA! Thank you for blogging and sharing your experiences in Afghanistan. I wish you much success with your blog and with your new government and country.

We are being criticized a lot because of opium (poppy) production in Afghanistan. Do you have any comments?

Paul Edwards you are such a sweetheart to help people there start blogs! :-)

Waheed; welcome to the blogosphere. It is very important to get the truth out. We in the USA need to hear from many perspectives to analyze what is really happening there. Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Salaam Aleikum Waheed
Greetings from an Iraqi blogger. I found your blog through Stefania's web page (Free Thoughts).
Try to make your best to tell the story of Afghanistan. I think Afghanistan & Iraq have alot in common.
Wishing you the best.

Welcome to the blogosphere Waheed! I am so interested in what you have to say about your country. The blogs from the Middle East are incredibly exciting for me!!!!

Prepare yourself for people to argue a lot with you. I've noticed that there are a few people who think you must think a certain way, act a certain way, and side with anyone other than Americans for your opinion to be valid. I hope it won't ever discourage you.

I hope the very best for you and your country!

Greetings Waheed,
I am so happy that you can tell us what is going on in your country. I too am interested in your thoughts about poppy production. I also wonder what you think of the Aid organizations in your country. I have read that they are living in very high style and not using their donations in the best interest of your country.

Welcome to the Blogocosm. I have subscribed to your blog through http://www.bloglines.com so I can catch Afghan news every morning.

Good luck.

Thank you for starting a blog, Waheed. We need to hear the voice of Afghanistan! I've been very impressed by the courage and warmth of your people for many many years, and look forward to reading your thoughts. Good luck (and ignore the trolls).

Waheed,
Welcome to the world of blogging! I will add you to my site to keep informed. How exciting for you to be the first in Afghanistan!

Good day Waheed,

Thanks for taking the time to tell us about your country's progress and your own personal sacrifice. I have a friend who is stationed at the Kandahar air base(don't think he's at Kabul) and he just got there in January.

Keep it up,
Dunerati

Welcome, Waheed!
I have been waiting so long for a voice from Afghanistan. I look forward to pictures and posts about your beautiful country.

Welcome to the blogosphere. I was searching for a blog from an Afghanistan citizen from months ago but was unable to find any until today. Blog may still be unafamiliar to Afghanistan but let's see if the trends change. Blogs have a great impact on Iraq and Iran that changed the views of many people. Maybe the blogs from Afghan may change the views of people around the world as well.

By the way, how is it going on in ANA. The last time I saw data on ANA, it was about 10,000 which is ten times less than Iraq. I wonder if the remainings of the Northern Alliance and other militias are turning themselves into the ANA, or are they working as state/province force if any.

Please keep us informed. Eager to hear whats happening there from someone besides the US military

Welcome! Our of curiosity, could you tell waht the average hourly cost for use of an internet cafe is? I understand the US $1 is currently worth 43 Afghani.

Welcome Waheed!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to create this. I am looking forward to reading any information you would like the give us on the progress of your country. We were so proud of all of you during your elections and wish you continue success and prosperity.

Very good! This is a welcome new site, and I hope you inspire and guide others to blog, too. It only took a couple of dedicated bloggers in Iraq to get the ball rolling, and I hope you can have the same effect.

Hi Waheed, Welcome and thank you for blogging. It's great to see you here. We will be interested in anything you have to tell us about life in Afghanistan.

Hello Whaheed, welcome to the blogosphere, I have been hoping for an Agfghani blogger so we can hear you and your peoples viewpoints.

Hi Waheed,

greetings from Germany. My neighbor is a good friend and he is a Afghan. The members from his family life in Great Britain, Canada and Afghanistan. Now is it good to have a blog to get more informations.

My friend brought sometimes original movies from Afghan TV and this movies make hope. The songs start with good ideas for a great future.

I hope you get informations from the areas outside from Kabul. Kabul is different to the surrounding areas, but Kabul is the future in a prospering area. It´s an international cultur which is a good example for the afghan groups. I wish you a state like Switzerland. In Switzerland give it 4 cultures 4 languages and a strong peaceful nation.

With the best wishes
Stefan

Salam Waheed!
Welcome to the world of blogging! It's always nice to see a new voice added to the chorus. I look forward to reading about your experiences in a rapidly changing country.

Hi Waheed,
Good for you for starting this blog. Blogs have been a great resource for sharing the truth. Even in American where we have free press, the blogs keep the press from distorting the truth. Good luck to you!!

Hi Waheed!
Great blog. Thanks for your service on behalf of a free Afghanistan. Let Freedom Ring!!
I am linking to your blog, you can link to mine if you would like..

Hello Waheed,
Welcome to the blogosphere! We have all been waiting a long time to hear a voice from Afghanistan. One forum concerning Islam that I've been involved with had only one, named "Kabuli." It was so interesting to get his perspective.
I predict that you're going to attract a large following on your blog!
Best Regards.

Waheed,

Congratulations and welcome! I expect you will get many comments.

I found your blog via the blog Iraq the Model.

If you need something, like a cheap digital camera, internet time, or assistance, let us know. Jeff Jarvis has helped out some of the Iraqi bloggers. Spirit of America has built an Arabic blogging tool for your friends who can only write Arabic. If I can help please leave a comment over at my site.

Welcome to the blogosphere, from Bahrain!

Welcome to the rest of the world. We look forward to hearing from you. I hope to visit Afghanistan one day....the pictures remind me of places in my home of West Texas...very beautiful. An old friend of mine is living in Kabul with the US State Dept.

This is really great! Thank you so much for taking the time to let us all know how you're doing in Afghanistan.

Blogging is a great way to spread understanding. Welcome!

Greetings and welcome! I'm glad to see a blog from Afghanistan join the fine blogs from the other M-E countries. I look forward to regular, honest updates on your country's progress. I'll take anecdotal evidence from people who actually live there over the tightly spun tripe shovelled by the pro-socialist, pro-dictator, anti-freedom world press. Any day.

Hi Waheed,

I'm so glad you have taken the time and effort to create a blog from Afghanistan. We have missed hearing the voices of people there, and soon, now that the Internet is finally becoming available there, in more places, perhaps we will hear from many. That is exciting!

Best wishes to you and your efforts, Waheed - and best wishes for a great future for your nation!

Welcome to the blogosphere!

I'm adding to you my blogroll.

It is good to see and Afghani blogger stepping out into the world. Congratulations on this first step, the world awaits your view, opinions and rants. Many thanks from South Florida where we look to Afghanistan for lessons on how to conduct elections. I look forward to your blog.

Salam Alaykoom Waheed!

Welcome to the blogosphere! I hope you have a thick skin as there will be those who accuse of you of being a stooge.

I look forward to reading your material!

Hello, glad you could join us.

It is my experience that reliable communications is the key to a stable, prosperous nation. For the moment Afghanistan does not have the infrastructure for widespread Internet access, but as Afghans prosper and thrive you can expect the infrastructure to grow into place.

That's the thing about free people, they do tend to thrive. Much more so than those in thrall.

Roads get built, trade expands, people gain in wealth, and good things follow from there.

Bad things too, but keeping the neighbors in mind and maintaining community can help where that is concerned.

All in all, by the time you are my age (I'm 51 by the way) Afghanistan will be a very different place.

Tell your friends and family I said hello, and that I hope life is going well for them and their friends and family.

God's blessings upon you and yours.

I've got you bookmarked. Thank you for sharing your story. As a former US Army officer, you have my respect, admiration, and good wishes.

Hi Waheed, thanks for your blog. I follow the Iraqi bloggers, and now I'll follow yours too. I'm glad to hear some good news from your country. You have many friends in the United States, even though you may not realize it :)

I'm proud of you and thanks for helping the world to be a better place. I hear alot from the people that were against the liberating Afganistan from the taliban, that It is a narco state etc. It would be nice hear your oppinion on the nay sayers and what the facts are on the opium problem and "war lords". Can't wait to read your next post.

Nice to meet you Waheed. Thanks for taking time to share your thoughts and observations with the rest of the world. I look forward to reading more about what is going on inside of Afghanistan

Welcome, warrior! It is good to hear a voice from Afghanistan.

Welcome Waheed! I'm bookmarking your site now...and I'll be back from time to time to see what you're writing!

Freedom isn't free...and I applaud your bravery for stepping forward in helping us help you and your countrymen.

As I know you've seen, Americans aren't trying to convert your country from Islam...but rather assist you in creating an environment where FREE Moslems can live and prosper.

Best of luck in your future endeavors!

Greetings from Central Texas...

One small word of warning: As you will soon find out, if you post too much positive stuff about your country some people here will start to doubt you an Afghan and accuse you of being a CIA agent posting propaganda for the Bush administration.

Don't believe me?

You'll see...:->

I look forward to you posts. And stay safe!

Hey Waheed,
Welcome baby. It's a brave new world so hap hap happy you could make it. Wishing you all the luck in the world. I have added you to my Blog Roll

Welcome aboard, Waheed
Great to see a new voice in the wild.
But did I get this right Paul Edwards? the same Paul we all know and love. Last I had heard of him he had gone completely crazy and was wondering around in some kind of clerics robes?? Paul, is that you, can you hear me!

Greetings Waheed,
I found your link at Iraq the Model.
I look forward to your future posts, I'm wondering how the road construction is going in Afghanistan, I heard that most of the roads were damaged during the long period of conflict in the region. I'm also wondering if they making any progress in getting rid of all the land mines.
Got you bookmarked and will check back.

Greetings from Michigan, Waheed! I think you could entertain us by telling sometimes what the Afghanis say (really) and then what you tell the U.S. officers they said!

Thank you Waheed. I'm so glad to see a blog from Afghanistan, I can't wait to hear more news.

Welcome to be blogosphere Waheed! I've been writting about Afghanistan for such a long time that it's great to finally come across the first Afghan blog. Will give you a plug on Chrenkoff.

madtom, yes, it's me. I am still in the clerics robes and I have been promoting the 3 pillars of True Islam, specifically:

1. do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
2. fight subjugation.
3. empathy for strangers.

on IRC. That's how I ran across Waheed. I've got my own web site at www.moatazilla.org which outlines what reforms are required in Islam for there to be world freedom. BTW, I forgot to mention - I editted Waheed's first post (at his request) which is why the English is better than expected.

Welcome Waheed to blogging...Keep up the good work my friend and enjoy it. Good luck

Waheed, is there no danger that the rebels will join with the drug lords?

Welcome Waheed - from Australia too, we are interested in the progress of the nation of Afghanistan towards a future which overwrites the sorrow of the last 25 years.

My youngest son will return to Afghanistan next month. I am sure he will see some real differences from his previous vist. We hear so little from Afghanistan, we are all looking forward to your perspective on things.

Welcome to the blogosphere! You are now in my links list.

Peace Brother... Omar will tell you what the best pajama's are to Blog in!

Welcome, Waheed! Hope to hear lots more about what is happening in your country! I'll read every day and hope to hear more about what women and girls are doing in particular, and anything we can do to encourage or help them.

Hi Waheed - I'm so glad to read the first blog from Afghanistan! I hope the prices come down and more people there can have access to the internet. I look forward to reading more about your country and her people.

Greetings! I was wondering how I would keep up on events when I redeploy back home. Now I will be able to check your blog. If you are able to mention any news from Parwan or Kapisa, I would be grateful.

Welcome to the blogosphere, Waheed. It's a pleasure to have you along.

Welcome to the blogosphere!

Hi Waheed. Welcome from Canada. It's good to see a blog from Afghanistan. At the time of your elections a columnist for The Toronto Sun, Peter Worthington (veteran of the Korean War) wrote several columns on the high calibre of the Afghanistan Army. Glad you're working with them.

Welcome Waheed, As you can see there are many of us who have been wanting some on the ground reports from Afghanistan. I was thrilled to see your first elections on TV and so thankful the girls can now be educated and women can have a voice as well as pursue a career if they so choose. I will bookmark your site and return often to learn of the progress in your country. You and your people have suffered much and you have the best wishes from this old American woman.

Hello Waheed and welcome to to blogging.

I have been hoping for the day an Afghan would take up blogging and give us news and opinion from an afghan perspective.

My brother was an instructor from the Canadian Army to the ANA last year. Maybe you know him.

Afghan Warrior is now in my bookmarks and I'll spread the word to as many people as I can.

Best wishes.

Let me add my welcome to those of all who have posted before Waheed. I have limited experience with afghanis living in my home town in Pennsylvania, but have found it to be overwhelmingly positive.
Paul: he doesn't have haloscan because it's not installed. www.haloscan.com is the website for this: registration is free and fairly easy.
You're already getting a lot of traffic Waheed, so keep up the good work. :)

Welcome to the Internet, Waheed! I look forward to reading real news from Afghanistan, not the biased crap our news media feeds us because they hate to report anything good.

Hi Waheed,
Greetings and welcome from Manhattan in New York City. I look forward to future postings from you.

One thing to remember: When President Bush said "When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you" he meant it, and he was not just speaking for himself and his government associates.

Millions of us ordinary Americans mean it too and we'll back up our sentiments with actions. For many of us, the best thing we can do is provide financial support so if you ever need it -- not that you do, but if ever you should -- please do not hesitate to ask.

Please tell your family and friends that we are with you all the way. Here's to freedom and prosperity for the Afghan people!

This is wonderful - thank you for blogging!! I will be visiting often. It's great that you are here.

Welcome to the blogosphere Waheed, and welcome to Democracy! It is very good to see your voice added to the world of free speech.

Welcome from Spain.

welcome waheed.

look forward to hearing an afghani voice. best of luck to you

Waheed:
Sorry about the lack of decorum in earlier post.

We are all happy to see freedom come to those who wish it.

After 25+ years of war, maybe now your people can see some peace.

Anything we can do to speed up the process? What are Afghanistan's most pressing needs? What can ordinary folks do to help out to make life better in Afghanistan?

As far as the Camera goes, Offer still stands.

Keep up the good work

Welcome to the blogosphere, from California, USA!

I want to echo the many sentiments expressed in the previous comments:
- we are glad to hear from someone from inside the Afghan culture who can speak in our own language
- you should definitely put up a post that assures us that you are not a shill of either the US/CIA nor of any extremist group
- Many americans, especially the "Christian right" in America supported President Bush when he wanted to liberate both your country and Iraq (although many of us wish he would have gotten into Iraq more diplomatically). We hope that you will keep us up to date on religious persecution of muslims, christians, jews, and any other people who want to practice freedom from state-mandated religion (even atheists should be protected and free from religious pressure)

Thanks! Seeker at twoorthree.net

Hello Waheed,

I love the idea, but please post more. If you are accepting already over 1500 USD in donations, it really should be for something.

Regarding Afghanistan: You need a Vision in Afghanistan. You do not need Crying Karzai like a kid and blaming Pakistan. You do not need Northern Alliance(Corrupt people never pay on long run). You do need Planes to bumb every rock in Afghanistan. You need an Afghan Pashtoon Vision to solve Taliban's threat. Diamond cuts diamond, not nothern alliance, corrupt warlords or crying karzai. Set an example, sell a vision, be Afghan/pashtoon. Represent minorities not as minorities but as Afghans. Be low profile. Change your ideology from American democracy to Afghan democracy engrained with Islam and Afghan culture. "You need Jihad against talibans". Madrassas in Afghanistan. Ban the media that shows western culture or promote that. You need a charismatic young afghan to take charge with full support from the international community. you need to attract young afghans. 50% of the population. you need a point to begin. you need no one above law. Criminal must be caught in the area called the point to set an example. you need hazara + pashtoon in army, Pashtoon + tajik + hazara as civil servants. Intelligence is important. Mullah's are important. Fresh blood is important. education is important. suffocate taliban's movement by sucking the air out. That is achieved with a simple plan that could not be derailed at any cost. No american soldier can kill an afghan and say we will carry out an investigation! Wrong example. No one above law. you do not need propaganda if you do the right things in the context of situation. Pashto should be official language and nothing else. divert attention from talibans to northern alliance and start cleaning them up. Bring moderate/educated pashtoons in the goverment. stop warlordism at any price-one by one. and stick to the job. start ningarhar. How with intelligence. build police only for jalalabad. army only for jalalabad. set the example. You need Mullah's to beat Mullah's. Not corrupt ones but politically active ones. portray mullah Omar as the stupid. people will learn.

The three main priorities for Afghanistan's government shouls be Education, Education and Education!

Hello everyone. I have a very serious question. Where is Bin Laden? No, I am not crazy, I am serious. Surely someone knows the answer. The rest of the world cannot help you with a monster on the lose. He has lied to your people. Many people from all over the world want to help and educate the people of Afghanistan. We cannot get there because of Bin Laden. He lies and says he is there to help. He is not Moses, as he parades around with his staff. He has no sheep, only slaves in servitude. The world wants to help. Let us. Start a campaign. TELL SOMEBODY WHERE BIN LADEN IS HOLD UP. Don't be afraid. Do the right thing. Think about it, get him out of the way, and you could actually have a voice in your future. Stop the mad man and tell us where he is.

Hello, it is me once again. Where is Bin Laden? Surely someone in your country knows where he is. No one can help you as long as he remains free. Many international groups would like to help. These international groups are afraid of the Rebels. Many good crops that would lead to stabilty in your economy and prosperity to your people can be grown in Afghanistan. Your soil is similar to the Southern US. So many people could help you with agriculture. So many people could help you with education. Bin Laden has lied to your people. He has millions of dollars. Why has he not built schools for your children, established funds for women and children, and found homes for the homeless? He grows poppies for profit. He get richer. My Bible, your Koran speaks of a parable that states, "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than a rich man to go to heaven." This pretty well shoots down his statement of following him and you will receive 12 virgins upon your death in heaven. He is a liar and cheat. I plead to you all, turn him in. He is not a reglious man, he is a money profit of satan. His own country of Saudi Arabia kicked him out. People of Afghanistan please do the same. Save yourself. I am sure the Taliban has been brain washed by this monister. Are you better off than before Bin Laden. Probably not. Save yourself and your families, turn him in.

Hello, folks me once again. Judy Jo Ann Hall Eicher, AKA Angel, Ice Princess, AKA Southern Bell. Come on somebody take out the trash. Turn Bin Laden in. No, I do not work for the government. I am a nobody, a house wife. Just turn him in. Thank you.

Hello Waheed,

Why hasn't anyone responded to my request. According to world news the Taliban is on the move once again. Do the people of Afghanistan want to be pushed
around by roadside bombers and kidnappers, or do they want to fight like hell and get out of bondage. Here is one idea. Do
you folks know how much a bale of cotton is worth. In
the long run, much more than poppies because of the different uses of cotton. Ya'll could grow cotton instead of poppies. Your
soil would be fine, from what I read. I wrote this in an earlier blog as well. Textile mills would build in your area. People could have jobs, feed their families, take care of basic human needs. Schools could be built. Woman could have the opportunity to get out of horrible situations. The military can only do so much relief work. As I understand, this is not their job. And, the military cannot help you if you will not help yourself. But, there are many organizations all over the world who would love to help the people of Afghanistan. Once again, people can't come to help you all if it is too dangerous. I have e-mailed many groups, they all say the same--too much risk to relief workers. As I said from a previous blog, Bin Laden is a false prophet. Where are the schools he has built? Where are the programs he has provided for his army of Taliban who left widows and children. He ain't got none. He leaves the people to starve to death. Uses the women for slaves. Yeah, sounds like a religious man to me. False prophet indeed. This fool has millions of dollars, he is using the people of Afghanistan for his own personal needs. To make more poppy money. His mother should of told him the way to suceed in anything is honesty, because ultimately lies catch up with you. No sir, I am not a rich person. Actually, at present I am poor. My husband and I had to file bankruptcy this year and have little money to live on. Most of my family is dead. My father was almost 40 years old when I was born. He died over 20 years ago. My mother is still alive, some extended family, my children and a grandchild. Yes, I guess I am referring to my brother, eleven years my senior is dead and my grandparents. Most people in their forties still have both parents living, and grandparents. My life has changed so much, I have come from being a spoiled brat in the early eighties to a woman who actually knows what hungry, sickness, and lost of dignity feels. No I don't live in a mud shack, but if my life doesn't change that could be a possibility. Come on just trying to explain we all go through hard times, but you have to turn to God and know he is still there even when life is kicking you in the butt. Once again, somebody turn Bin Laden in. I am serious--do the right thing. Thanks for listening to anyone who is reading. Good hunting folks--turn in Bin Laden.

I'm one of those persons who is curious what's the development there in Afghanistan. Take Care my friend!

well Wahid khan i aplause your courage and great work you have done.
but the thing i would like to tell you is be real be real and be real.
do not misuse the oppurtunity you have and try to convey the real issues in real words
the truth is this that the situation in afghanistan is gething worse day by day not as you say i went there my self in 2005 and i did not had the fear of suicide bombs and blasts where today you can not predict when and where it happens and the level of poverty and homeless people are sky rocking, the government has thrown out the people from there houses in order to build a wider street, where we have not been paved for the last 4 decades, and our president do not feel safe to go out of his castle, and being on the presidency chair for the past 8 years i wonder if any body in the world has seen his family yet, as a matter of fact all our ministries are in the hand of criminals and your saying its gething better.
karzai asked Taliban to come and join the government after 8 years of fight and after losing 1000's of poor people and 100's of local and forign soldiers, how its gething better day by day,
have you heard about the family who died in kunduz province out of hunger, do you know how much jobless people we have in kabul only, there was not any prostitutes be real that is all i am asking

Dear Mr. Waheed.
I read what the Sultan said. Let's face it sir. Ya'll would not have the problems your country has if it were not for Bin Laden and his band of thieves. As I have repeatedly keep saying, many people from around the world would love to help your country. Militaries are not relief workers. Don't blame your government, our government, other countries governments--it is all Bin Laden's fault. Was your country in such a shape of turmoil before Saudia Arabia kicked Bin Laden out and he had to find a new country to haunt. No, this has all happened since he took up residence. Just like the bully of the playground, he causes major problems. Except he does not steal milk money, he kills people. He profits from drug trade and gets richer and your people starve. We have a drug problem in our country too, but the federal authorities do not let them take over the country. So I suppose the FBI does do a good job after all-- along with other Federal agencies, state and local officials. We are not perfect, but at least we try. Any way-- get a horse, a buggie, a mule, or walk. Someone must turn in Bin Laden. I hear he resides around the border regions. Pick up the phone and call it in. You will feel soooooooo much better. Thank you and God Bless

Waheed,

Have you heard of this new book, Seven Keys of Balabad? Apparently it is about Afghanistan, but for kids and by a former journalist. My teacher mentioned it to me. Sounds interesting and teaches them about other cultures.

Mr. Waheed,
I hope you are doing well. With much love and respect for the people of Afghanistan, please turn in Bin Laden. For six years, I have written international organization and pleaded for help for your villages. They all say the same thing. Too dangerous for us to lend aid and assistance. Every child needs a toy to love. Women do not need to be slaves. Girls should go to school. Please sir, ask your people to turn in Bin Laden. He has lied to your people. I do not know why he lied unless it is because he is getting rich off of poppies. He claims to be relgious, how about The Bible verse it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to go to heaven. Get a clue Mr. Bin Laden. I think you are not a man of God or Allah, you are a bad man. So there. Hey people turn him in, set your self free.

Osama, Osama, Osama, everything i hear is him and his weeknes.
I think he is not alive anymore or waht ever.

I just want to realize that the
"us army" are killing people that are with him. I repeat there are killing them just becouse there meanin you are one of them in Afganistan.

they can do that becouse there are the us-army and have enouth firepower to kill every Afganian that says something against that.

Im not with that becouse i believe in solutions that gave freedom and not destroy everykind of weeknes.

But waht could bring enouth firepower to break the us-army and his coalition partners.

Youve got to organize it just like the enemy does that becomes stronger.

I think the time has come.

That means every country that got
a war with the us or british army in the last one hunderet years:

China, India, Nicaragua, Northkorea, (Southkorea), Vietnam, UDSSR, Japan

Also

Israel, Turkiye, Jordanien, Palestina,Pakistan

to stay nutreal or more.

Surely that will become very provitable.

It will work becouse you can not carry a weaknes that kill you, or costs everything you have.
Either of that political weeknes from USA that is now runnin.

Organize that and you will make them understand.

Becouse there killed babys, wimen and rubber valuable things.
And that about hundertthousend times or more and thats the joke.

Its time to Bomb there Houses and to kill the people, to break there rocket shield.

And to make atomic weapons useles becouse they wont use them in that case.

Its time for our armys to go to the USA to bring them a rocket shield.

It is not so taht every decision that is been made is decided in the USA becouse there are everykind of people.
The problam is that the time has come were it become to much. There taken to much from everyone.
And now everyone understand that who is not an amarican.
So the dilema will be gone and the USA become his own country in the end and break in splitter becouse they dont mix it enouth. And if they do now it will become much worser. And if - they cant get it fast enouth.

Isnt taht a fine ?

I hope they understand now.

:) thts just a joke.

Time to turn in Bin Laden so the rest of the world can help ya'll.

Bin Laden I do not like you, you probably hate me too. But, I do have a favor to ask of you. Please let the young soldier go. He appears to be the same age as your children and my children. His capture or worse is not going to change anything for either side and you know it. Please show the world you have an ounce of human compassion, you are a Man of Allah or God, as you claim and let him go. Thank you. Jo Hall

Hi guys, full respect to all people working there. I have just 1 question for all of you. Since USA and UK are in Afghanistan the production of opium increase from 70.000 ectars in 2001 till 200.000 ectars in 2007 (this is a fact ... you can check by yourself). It seems that the presence of USA and UK in some way (i don't know which one) is helping afghanistan to produce more opium. This afghanistan opium is producing 95% of the eroin worldwide. My question is: why to catch terrorist we don't BOMB and burn using napalm such fields ? If we will destroy fields terrorist will not have money anymore. I am confused .. what we are doing there ?!

Looks like it would have been a good blog if he kept it up - I couldn't see anything past 2007?

The question about why heroin production has increased is a good one - I can say from the perspective as someone who has lived in Afghanistan for almost 10 years that the price of flour has gone up dramatically the past few years. Maybe more poppy planting and less wheat fields is causing this. But the people are so poor, that you cannot blame them for planting a crop which gives them higher financial yield. I think we'd all do the same if we were in their shoes....

this is such a nice resource on afghanistan. There are also some Afghanistan and NATO related materials around

I am so pleased the United States Military and Nato forces are finally going to free the people of Afghanistan from the Taliban. You people will be taught to grow crops that can feed your families, and bring money to your villages. Your children, including girls can go to school. It will take a while, but international help in the form of aid will come, once the regions are safe. I been writing to this blog now, for sometime. Help is on the way. Your lives will become so much better, but again, Patience is required. Help is here.

I have great pleasure in introducing myself, Jaya Gurung, a freelance trekking guide in Nepal. I became involved in trekking in 1998, when I was a porter for two years. I then completed a guides trekking course through the Minister of Tourism in 2000 and followed this up with high altitude mountain sickness training. Since completing my trekking course I have gained a vast amount of experience with trekking companies. I am fluent in English and I also speak a little French. This experience has allowed me to become familiar with various different Nepalese trekking environments, particularly, Annapurna, Everest, Langtang, Helambu, Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Upper Mustang, Upper and Lower Dolpo. I can also lead treks to remote and less-touristy areas.

See Sama Gumpa & Larkela Pass
Gurung people lifestyle
See the Trade center of Tibet
Overview:
Mount Manaslu is located east of the Annapurna range. This trek offers unsurpassed beauty and rich blend of Tibetan and Nepalese culture and true adventure for visitors to Nepal.
Description about Manaslu trekking :
Here you will find the mountains and valleys covered with diverse and pristine eco-systems. Fantastic mountain views, rich culture, and genuine adventure tantalize trekkers as they climb to the base of Mount Manasalu. You will soon understand what inspired Eric Valli to create his world famous documentary, "Honey Hunter of Nepal'.

The inhabitants of the upper Budhi Gandaki region are known as the Nuri; their language and dress are quite similar to the neighbouring Tibetans. These local Himalayan people still earn their living through trade with Tibet. The mountain views from Nupri are sensational and crossing the Larke La pass is one of the most beautiful and dramatic of the Himalayas.

Similar to many other trekking routes in Nepal, this trek has many routes to choose from. One option passes through Dudh Pokhari ( a milky lake) that is a common pilgrimage destination for Hindus and Buddhists alike. Another route takes you up to Manaslu Base Camp. While the most popular option is to trek over the Larke La pass to arrive in the Marsyandi valley in the Annapurna region.
